About this page
On this page, you can visually check the epidemic status of major infectious diseases in Japan using weekly graphs.
Hover your cursor over the graph to see detailed figures.
How to read the data and important points to note
- ※The aggregated weekly number of cases reported in the National Surveillance System of Infectious Diseases is used. The latest data for epidemiological week 15 are as of April 15, 2026, and data from previous weeks have been republished.
- ※The shaded area shows the baseline range. The lower bound is the five-year average for each epidemiological week computed over a centered 7-week window, and the upper bound is the same average plus 2 SD. Both bounds were subsequently smoothed using a moving-average filter. For COVID-19, the baseline range was calculated using data from the past two years.

The detailed graphs shown in the linked pages are being created and published on a trial basis to explore methods for visualizing and utilizing data from both sentinel and comprehensive reporting in infectious disease surveillance programs. We are currently in the testing phase regarding the functionality and data display methods, and this is not an official information service provided by JIHS.
